Your Data is Private
Hideout Weather is a native Mac application. Your weather data, locations, and preferences are stored locally on your device.
We do NOT sell, share, or transmit your personal data to third parties.
What Data We Collect
When you use Hideout Weather, the following data is used:
Location Data
- • GPS coordinates for weather lookups (sent to NWS API only)
- • Saved locations stored locally on your device
Weather Data
- • Forecasts and alerts fetched from NOAA and NWS APIs
- • Radar imagery from MRMS
- • Tropical storm data from NHC
App Preferences
- • Color profiles, fonts, background images
- • Unit preferences (Imperial, Metric, Hybrid)
- • All stored locally, never transmitted
What We DON'T Collect
- • No accounts: No registration, login, or email required
- • No analytics: No tracking scripts, no usage telemetry
- • No advertising: No ads, no ad networks, no data sold
- • No cookies: The app does not use cookies
Third-Party Services
National Weather Service (NWS)
All forecast, alert, and observation data comes directly from NWS APIs. Your location coordinates are sent to NWS to retrieve local weather. NWS is a U.S. government agency and does not track individual users.
NOAA / MRMS
Radar imagery is sourced from NOAA's Multi-Radar Multi-Sensor system. No personal data is transmitted to NOAA.
MapLibre
Interactive maps are rendered locally using MapLibre GL. Map tiles may be fetched from tile servers but contain no personal data.
Data Deletion
All data is stored locally. To delete your data:
- • Remove saved locations from the app
- • Reset profiles from Settings
- • Uninstall the application to remove all data
Children's Privacy
Hideout Weather does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
